An old Basque farmhouse converted into a restaurant
Aboiz is located in the heart of the small town of Garai, in the Duranguesado region of Bizkaia, just 30 minutes from Bilbao.
We opened our doors in July 2014, after the renovation of the Arroitabeiti farmhouse, a dreamlike property owned by the family. Since then, Aboiz has become a well-established restaurant thanks to a great team of restaurant professionals, led by Iratxe Aizpitarte, the restaurant’s owner.
Iratxe is a young entrepreneur with a long family history in the hospitality industry. Together with her husband, she launched this project, continuing the initiative started years before by her parents and carrying on a family tradition deeply rooted in gastronomy.

The rustic décor—in the style of a traditional Basque farmhouse—is combined with modern design elements, so that large windows place diners before the incomparable backdrop of the mountains and valleys of Durango. A unique place in a stunning natural setting.
The restaurant boasts a spectacular garden where all kinds of events can be held. An ideal venue for business meetings, conventions, dinners or lunches, and, of course, the most beautiful weddings.
